The Atomic Tree is a new virtual reality film that debuted at SXSW. It features a beautiful, and revered 400-year-old Japanese White Pine bonsai, which survived the nuclear blast of Hiroshima, despite being just two miles from the bomb’s epicenter.
The Japanese term for this type of tree is Hibakujumoku, but this particular bonsai in question is the focus of the immersive, haunting tale of WWII and the atomic bomb.
Created by GO Project Films, we’re told it’s a visually impactful story, told through the relatively new medium of virtual reality. Via Engadget:
