Using very thing ceramics and a dramatic inverted drip look, sculptor Bian Xiaodong has created a series of bowls that resemble the spiny mouth of a Venus Fly Trap.

By flipping the vessels over and letting the natural flow of the clay drip naturally, he’s been able to create these shapes that otherwise wouldn’t be possible. His expertise in the use of kaolin clay is clearly evident, read more on Colossal:
