This series entitled Wedged Wonders by Docubyte, features some of the most thrilling and yes – wedge shaped concept cars of the late 1960s and 70s. Italian in origin, they showcase a wild and futuristic form that makes us happy. Even the names feel amazing and future-forward. Alpha Romeo Navajo? Ferrari Rainbow? Volvo Tundra? Car brands could take a cue from this approach.
The expressiveness and boldly raked hoodlines make them stand out, even by today’s standards. Docubyte pairs these rare beauties with matching background colors, giving them a pop-design sensibility. Really fun work. Via DesignBoom:

“‘Wedged Wonders’ unites a collection of era-defining concept cars from the famous carrozzeria, the Italian car body design houses synonymous with avant-garde vehicle styling.
In the late 1960s, these carrozzeria, such as Bertone, Pinfarina and Italdesign, would go head to head during a period of outlandish one-upmanship in the creation of new and unique concept vehicles, that would see a trend for straight lines conquering the curve.”
