While it’s not magic, there is something novel and refreshing about Spout, a new water creation system.
Spout is an innovative countertop device that extracts and purifies water from the air using technology adapted from NASA.
Resembling a large coffee machine, Spout can produce between one to 2.5 gallons of water daily, depending on temperature and humidity levels.
It utilizes a ceramic desiccant wheel to capture moisture, which is then released and condensed into liquid form. The water undergoes further purification through a nanoceramic filter and a built-in UV system, ensuring it is over twice as pure as typical tap water.
Additionally, Spout functions as an air purifier, reducing volatile organic compounds and capturing airborne particles.
This eco-friendly appliance offers a sustainable solution to water scarcity and is currently available for purchase here.

Not having checked if they are shipping yet, I’d like to point out that there have been many of these companies working on the same thing that have failed.
As much as I want to believe, it sounds too good to be true. And I can’t find any user reviews that appear to be written by a human. All I can find are articles with company PR and short reviews with general praises and no detail.
Hmmm, I need to think about this…
$799 for the unit.
$50 per filter. Need 4 for a year of use which is $200.
For a total of almost $1000.00 for the first year.
According to the specs:
~ 9 kWh / Gallon, which is equal to 9×0.49= $4.41 of utility/Gallon. My PG&E electricity rate is 49 cents per kWh.
Since it is capable of 2.5 gallons per day, 2.5×4.41= $11.025 of utility per day (Electric bill)
That is $11.025 for 2.5 gallons of water.
Using Reverse osmosis (RO) water costs $0.25 for the same 2.5 gallons of water.
Assume at the max of making 2.5 gallon per day, 2.5×365=912.5 gallon/year
The utility cost of a whole year of water is 365×11.025= $4024.125
Well, you can say that it looks good and I can see it happening, but at a very expensive rate.
When I do not see a price on an article in an ad, I know the price is too high. In this case 800 dollars plus. Let’s see what the Chinese can come up with.
