Summer is here! Many of us are making plans for the warmer days ahead.
If you’re planning a get-together with friends and family, here’s a handy list to help you get organised.
Gather your guests
Who’s coming to your big summer bash? Do you want a quiet gathering or would you love to invite friends and family along?
Set the date and make sure you let everyone know well in advance.
Choose the venue
Are you going to throw a garden party at your house? Or are you going to head to the beach? Maybe you’ll make it a formal occasion and book a space? Deciding where you’ll host your gathering is an important starting point as this will set the tone for the type of get-together you have.
Wherever you plan on hosting it, it’s important that you consider things like what to do if the weather changes, the facilities on offer and how accessible it is. If, for instance, you’re having friends over to your house, can you move the party inside if it rains? These considerations could help you decide where to have your get-together.
Set the scene
Transform the space with decorations and furniture. Whether you’re having a garden party or a celebration in the park, scatter some colourful cushions and beanbags so that everyone’s comfortable.
Create a party playlist too. Include a mix of summery bops and relaxing music that might work well while you tuck into food. It’s worth asking guests for requests to personalise the tracks you play.
Organise the activities
Are your guests a fan of party games? From water-based activities to cool everyone down to lawn games such as croquet, there are plenty of ways to entertain everyone.
You might want to have some indoor activities planned too, should the weather turn or you simply need a space where everyone can enjoy a little downtime. Online games like bingo can be ideal for keeping everyone occupied.
For the performers among you, get out the karaoke machine. You could have a sing-off and see who’s the ultimate singing star. Or for an all-out event, a lip sync battle might be ideal.
Plan the food
When we think of summer menus, they often feature barbecues, salads and simple finger foods. This is the perfect time to perfect your burger grilling skills or you might want to try new slider recipes.
Remember to cater for any veggies, vegans, or those with dietary requirements too. Ask ahead to see if anyone’s gluten-free or lactose intolerant and make sure you have plenty of food to keep them happy too.
Ready to go? Let’s get the party started!
