Colossal:
Japanese paper engineer Kota Hiratsuka has been creating beautifully complex origami mosaics that rely on cut and folded geometric patterns. He plans to sell the various templates as downloadable PDFs through his website …though not just yet, so stay tuned. See many more of his works here and on Flickr. If you liked this also check out the work of Matthew Shlian.

  1. I love these, they are so pretty and unique, they remind me of kalidescope patterns, x

  2. I think you’re right! You should check out the documentary Between the Folds, it’s great, and all about origami. Thanks for visiting!

  3. I love paper! I love most things Japanese! So obviously, I love origami! I’m guessing that with the development of more user-friendly software we are probably at the dawn of a new age of origami.
