We don’t often think about Antarctica’s size, as it’s shrouded by an ice sheet that’s over a mile thick.

Antarctica is on average, the coldest, driest, and the windiest continent on earth. Though it’s home to unique geographical features, and is home to a small number of native animal and plant species.

The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) has released a new map that shows what the 5th biggest continent looks like withouts its snow and ice.

It’s a remarkable look at the land forms, which we’re never able to normally see.

See more about the latest map on Bluesky, which shows the process that went into the creation of the maps.
