Made from the world’s lightest material, this designer handbag weighs almost nothing at all.

Using NASA-developed aerogel, the bag is made of 99% air, and supposedly feels like carrying nothing at all.

Created as a statement piece for Coperni’s 2024 runway show at Paris Fashion Week, the futuristic handbag might not be able to hold much, but it still stole the show.

First developed by NASA to capture stardust in outer space, we’ve begun seeing commercial and consumer uses of aerogel, which you can even purchase in small quantities online.

Referencing the current Coperni handbag aesthetic, this special version called the Air Swipe is created out of aerogel, which weighs a mere 35 grams.

The material is considered delicate but not fragile, and can handle pressure of up to 4,000 times its weight.

The material has a cool light blue appearance, which come from millions of ‘nano-pores’ on its surface.
