Chicago has always had a surprisingly impressive skyline, with buildings like Willis Tower (Sears Tower) dominating the horizon for decades. After the global recession, development slowed down, and smaller, 30-story buildings became more common. Now, the sky race has begun again, and Curbed has a collection of impressive high-rises either under development, or already in construction for the Windy City. Here are a few.

Tribune Tower East

At a proposed 1,422 feet, Tribune Tower East would be Chicago’s 2nd tallest building, after the Willis Tower.  It’s a sleek and trim design, similar to the look of Seoul’s Lotte Tower, which is currently the world’s 5th tallest.

Thanks for the comment, looks like it should be a cool commute!

  2. Live just across the state line in Indiana and take the South Shore train into down town all the time. Can’t wait to see the Chicago skyline in 2023 -2025 taking a river tour on one of the river tour boats.
