A tall, mirrored monolith was discovered outside of Las Vegas recently, causing a stir about its origin, and whether this is just another elaborate prank, or something more meaningful.

The tall, slender column has no other markings, and stands alone atop a hillside near the Gass Peak trail, about 16 miles from Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) reported the monolith, and reactions range from laughter to promises of alien activity.

Either way, if you go hiking to find this latest monolith, be sure to bring extra water and protection from the heat.

    In the top picture, a decent sized rock in the foreground casts a shadow to the ‘left’. I don’t see a corresponding shadow, in the same direction as the rock’s shadow, being cast by the monolith. As Clarke put it in ‘The Sentinel’…we may have rung the doorbell ;-}
