Flipping the script on how paintings are usually created, artist Alexa Meade takes real figures and objects, physically painting on them to make them look like a two-dimensional piece of art.

It sounds easier than it is, but indeed takes a fine skill to take three dimensional forms and make them feel like a traditional brushstroke work of art.  Her skill as a painter transforms things in fascinating ways, creating visual illusions that break our conception of how a type of art is supposed to look like.

“When Alexa paints on top of someone, she creates a twin to be completely coincided with its actual original…It’s this idea of applying fiction to fact, art to reality, culture on top of nature. It is a manifestation of the mirror world.”
